From Madsen Machine Guns to DISAMATIC
– DISA 1900 – 2025From Madsen Machine Guns to DISAMATIC tells, for the first time, the full story of DISA – a grand industrial adventure that began 125 years ago in the Freeport of Copenhagen, when the company received permission to export Madsen machine guns under the name Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat – Compagnie Madsen A/S.
DISA spent many years as a weapons manufacturer. But making money from arms trading is rarely popular, and the company faced growing criticism during the German occupation of Denmark, when it collaborated with the occupying forces. As a result, DISA was forced to reinvent itself – and it certainly did …
Today, DISA produces moulding machines and foundry solutions worldwide as part of NORICAN. This transformation began in 1961, when DISA acquired the patent for producing vertical moulding machines: DISAMATIC.
Today, together with NORICAN’s other technologies for shaping and treating metal components, DISA is a global market leader – with a strong focus on delivering sustainable solutions to its customers.
The release of From Madsen Machine Guns to DISAMATIC celebrates DISA’s 125th anniversary. It is authored by historian Ole Jeppesen and DISA senior consultant Poul Erik Arre.
Ole Jeppesen is a historian and owns the firm Historiesnedkeriet.
Poul Erik Arre is a senior consultant at DISA.
